According to a report by the Kazakhstan Silk Road Economic Society: the Phase I system of the Astana Light Rail Transit began trial operations on September 2
According to the Capital City Transport Systems Company (City Transportation Systems/CTS), this is a significant milestone that will allow for the testing of the infrastructure's technical readiness, tra safety, and passenger comfort.

Sources report that the capital's light rail will operate with driverless technology. During the testing phase, experts will inspect the tracks, stations, communication networks, vehicles, safety systems, and traffic control systems. The tests will pay particular attention to staff training, emergency response, and the integration of the light rail with other modes of transportation.

The light rail trains are equipped with a GoA4 hardware and software complex—a fully automated control system: train operation, maintaining distance, stopping, opening and cosing doors, entering and exiting the depot, and cleaning all require no operator involvement.
Upon completion of testing, the light rail system will enter operation in 2026, providingcapital with a new generation of fully automated driverless transportation.
